Your Money or Your Life is the title of a book written by Joe Dominguez and Vicki Robin that outlines a nine-step program for evaluating and ultimately transforming our relationship to money and time. That relationship encompasses more than just our earning, spending, debts, and savings; it also includes the time these functions take in our life and the levels of satisfaction we get from different ways of spending time. Understanding our personal money, time, and activity equation allows us to take a big step towards creating the good life. In addition to the self guided exercises in the book, there are workshops which use the book and its principles as the basis.
The time/money equation is another one of those fundamental frameworks like the Ecological Footprint that can be useful for making many life decisions. Once you have gone through the exercises and developed your own time/money equation, it can become a part of your thinking that helps you to continually make choices that are in line with your goals for the good life.
